The Zoo

When we went to the zoo, it was a lovely sunny day. Our class had earned marbles in a jar for good behaviour, and our reward was a day at the Hamilton Zoo.
When everyone  arrived, we all split up into groups and wandered around the zoo. Mrs Draper was one of the helpers for our group. There were six kids in the group, including me.
We passed the tuatara cage before we arrived at the rhinos. At the lazy rhinos' enclosure, there was a lot of dusty dirt all over the place. There was a tree that looked like it was dying, but most of trees were still alive. While we were watching, the lazy grey hard skinned rhinos slept and walked very slowly and lazily. After we had become really bored with watching the rhinos do their thing, we moved on.
Our group had gone  past a few animals when we came to the giraffes’ enclosure. There were seven tall orange and black boy giraffes walking slowly and quietly around in a large heap of sand and poles with cages on top with hay inside, then we noticed that there were six black and white zebras in the same enclosure running around with a lot of speed, but they couldn’t run around with that much speed  because the enclosure was too small and there were too many trees and poles.
Our group moved onto the next animal the cheetah. We were all excited to see the cheetahs because they are as fast as lightning but the one who wanted to see the cheetahs most was Madeline. As we looked through the cage to see the cheetah, we finally found it. When we saw the cheetah, I grabbed Madeline's ipod from the front pocket of my bag and took a lot of photos of the cheetahs.  In the first photo, the cheetah was far back.
After a while, we started to head back to where the group started because it was almost time to go and we were on the other side of the zoo so it was going to take a while.
We got there in  good time because we still had a few minutes until it was our turn to go into the classroom. We waited for a few minutes then our the whole class was called in. Inside the classroom were  animal bones and skins. Matt told us that the animal skins and bones lived thousands of years ago. In the room, there was a glassy window ,and behind it, was a brown and grey tuatara.
I thought it had been an amazing time and I can’t wait till next time.

Spot Light

It was a dark Saturday night  in Paeroa. My cousins and I were getting ready to play. I was a hider for Spot light and my older cousin,Jenna, was the tagger.
"Get ready to be found," Jenna said to herself furiously.
"Hide now!" the other hiders yelled out. We were ready to hide away from the tagger. It felt like we were running away from our deepest enemies . I sped across the road to mine and Kristianna's hiding spot jenna had already found two then three of her villains while we were at it.
When Jenna wasn't in we all chose who would be in next it was Rayanna so we ran and ran to our hiding spot. She still didn't find us till Jessica sneezed.
" found you!" she said loudly. We all got a big fright. my cousin Jessica screamed " Aaah!" It was so loud, it hurt my ears

Food For Dinner

I think we should have lasagna once a  week.

My 1st reason is it has vegetables and mince inside it with pastry.vegetables and mince are healthy you said we have to eat healthy so lets have lasagna.

My 2nd is lasagna makes your stomach full.
When you're full you won't be hungry and there will be lot of leftovers for lunch or breakfast.

My 3rd reason is that we can cook it and I can help.
we can cook so we can do it like a family you said we need to do something as a family so lets have lasagna.

Now you know my reason why I want lasagna every week If we
had lasagna once a week our stomachs would be very happy.

Skye and Storm

On the last day of school, a boy and a girl arrived home happy and overjoyed. As they walked inside, they both dropped their bags and ran into the living room to open their big surprise.
The boy and girl held a corner each and held it up. The boy screamed "Ahh! It's puppies."
They were so cute. They were called Storm and Skye.

El Grego

On Friday, my school watched the anti-bullying show in the hall. El Grego teaches children to not bully.
My favourite trick was when El Grego made the table fly. First of all, he invited a student from the audience. It was Jessica. Jessica walked onto the stage.
El Grego said, “Hi there. What’s your name?”
Jessica answered, “Jessica,” so they both carried on doing magic. He brought onto the stage a wooden table, shaped as a square. When he was asking Jessica questions, my friends and I were wondering what was going to happen. He said, “ Float.
“What?” I said, then it floated. My friends and I were amazed. How awesome he was.
El Grego said, “Float.”
Magical music turned on. It felt like I was in space.
When he was finished, he gave Jessica a pencil case with El Grego on it.
Jessica was very lucky to earn that pencil case. We were all proud of her.

Poem - Bullies Are Fools

You think you're so strong and say I'm weak.
When I'm waiting in line
You push and shove me
I try to disappear
So I'm no longer here
I hate being bullied
It's just not fair.
So, if you're a bully,
You're a big fool
So stop acting like you're cool.

Holy Thursday Liturgy

Holy Thursday Liturgy

It was now the time of Passover. Jesus’ followers came to Him and said, “We will go and prepare everything for the Passover Feast. Where do you want to eat the feast?” Jesus answered, “Go into the city. A man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him. He will go into a house. Tell the owner of the house, “The teacher wants you to prepare the room for the Passover meal.” So the followers left and went into the city and prepared the Passover Feast.
In the evening, Jesus went to that house with the twelve. While they were eating, Jesus took the bread and gave God thanks and praise. He broke the bread, gave it to his disciples, and said: “Take this, all of you, and eat it; this is my body which will be given up for you.”

When supper was ended, he took the cup. Again he gave God thanks and praise, gave the cup to his disciples, and said: “Take this, all of you, and drink from it; this is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new and everlasting covenant. It will be shed for you and for all so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.”

After some time, Jesus got up from the table and went to a different part of the room.  He put a large towel around him, making himself look like a servant.  After that, he poured water into a large bowl and began to wash the disciples' feet.  He then dried them with the towel that was wrapped around Him.

When Jesus had finished washing all of the disciples’ feet, he returned to the table.  "Do you understand what I have done for you?"  Jesus asked them.
Jesus is like a King - but even greater than a king, He's the King of Kings!  By washing the disciples’ feet, He was doing something that only a servant would do.
This is an example of how you should treat others.  You don't have to actually wash other people's feet, but do kind things to others and act like a servant for Jesus.

Waka Racing

Today, we walked to the riverbank to watch the Regatta waka races.
When we got to the riverbank, we sat down to watch the races. The water was sparkling and the crowd on the other side of the river was shading under tent tops. Some crews were getting into the waka to go up-river for their races.
waka.JPGHarrigan’s crew was racing next. We were all excited  to see his crew win. The crew raced right passed my eyes. Everyone cheered, “ Let’s Go Saint Paul’s. Let’s Go. Clap. Clap.” My friends and I had sore throats from cheering our hardest for them. As they went past, the water made little sparkly waves. As  their school waka  paddled to the finish line with cheerful faces, my school was proud to see the crew make it to the finish line. Madeline and I screamed, “ WE WON! WE WON! WOO! We all loved watching the waka.

Live Simply Day

Today is Live Simply Day. We live Live Simply Day so that we can stand in solidarity with the poor people in our world. To live simply means to go without anything that isn't needed  for us to survive, such as technology and electrical devices, like a toaster, a car, bikes and scooters, shoes and T.V.

My Shell

These shells were found at Matauri Bay. My one is shiny and precious and sweet. I a way, it smells like fish and sand. I imagine its journey in my head, gliding around in the sea.
Its colour is white and brown. Its like it's from somewhere, deep in the sea, where there is no sound at all. When I shine the shell in the light, it sparkles.
