Rock This Party

This morning, Room 3 and Room 4 went to the hall to see Kate to do some dancing. I thought we would be watching a show, but, when I heard the music go before we went, I knew it was dancing. I felt very excited to do some dancing.

Pictures in the Mind

I have been practising writing words that give readers pictures in their minds.
A few weeks ago, it was Athletics Day. There were  all sorts of events like high jump, shot put and lots more to compete in.
First, we did Vortex.  All the 9 year old girls and boys ran as fast as we could to get to Vortex. The boys went first. The vortex was shaped like a rugby ball. The part at the end of the vortex was like an arrow. When I threw the vortex, it sounded like a little boy whistling down the park.
The boys lined up in order. It looked like a line of dogs waiting for food. My friends and I were excited to help Mr Keogh count how far the boys went. The furtherest throw was Moses.
After all the boys had had their turn, it was the girls' turn. The girls had a very short line. The girls threw way better than all the boys watching us.
After we had finished, Mr Keogh told us the 9 year olds who came 1st. Moses came first and I came first.

My Dad is the Best

Do you want to hear about the best dad in the world? My dad is the one because he sings me Maori songs sometimes.
He has a nice family and nice brothers.  He will always be the master of the house. His work will always be on his side.  He’s so funny and nice.
Dad, I love you so much.

My Wonderful Mother

My mother is wonderful because she bakes me sweets. She bakes all kinds of sweets but my favourite is mud cake.   My mother lets me taste the icing first to see if it’s right. When it’s done, my mother and I have a piece of mud cake.
My mother is wonderful because she looks after me when I’m feeling sad. She hugs me when I’m sad and says it’s going to be ok, then she gives me milk.
My mother is wonderful  because she buys me stuff. We go to Kmart and buy some stuff like a toys and lollies.   My mother and I like shopping.

Breakfast

Today, two people from Sport Waikato told us about healthy breakfasts and bad breakfasts because some of them have lots of sugar and, if you eat the bad breakfast, you won’t have energy to play and work. For breakfast, you should have less than 15 grams of sugar and less than 10 grams of fat and more than 5 grams of fibre in the cereal. The best breakfast you should have is Weetbix and Porridge. Sometimes, you can have Ricies and Cornflakes but you can only get it if you add fruit. The breakfast you shoud not eat is Cocopops and Cookie Time because they have got too much sugar in them.

Hippos

Hippos
Hippos are large and heavy animals. They have short legs, four toes on each foot, a short tail, small ears, a big mouth,a large nose and they have very thick skin.

Where Hippos Live.
Some hippos live in Africa, near rivers to cool down, and to keep away from the lions.
What Hippos Eat.

Hippos eat grass on a hot sunny day.
What Hippos Do.
Hippos rest in water and sleep in daytime.
Hippos Babies.
Baby hippos have to stay away from the male hippos because some male hippos fight and the baby hippos get hurt.
Hippos Dangers
After feeding in the dark for a few hours, hippos go back to the water because lionesses come and hunt them for dinner.

Zero Waste

It is important to reuse, recycle, reduce and compost so that we don't keep adding to the landfill every month. New Zealand makes a rugby field long and 30 classrooms high of rubbish. We can reuse our old things that we don't need any more to make  something else useful, such as a buddy and a pencil holder and a pet.

Elgregos Magic Show.

Yesterday, the whole school went into the hall and watched the Elgrego magic show.

When we were ready, Elgrego began his magic by  making birds appear. My favourite part was when he put three birds in a box and then he put a blanket  on the box and said, "It better work," two times, then he lifted the blanket up. The birds were gone. All there was in the box was a rabbit. The next bird trick was when he had a pot and he lit the pot on fire, then he closed the lid, then he opened it, then there was a bird. I was amazed.

Next, Elgrego performed a magic trick with fizzy drink which was a raspberry drink. He had a box which was called an ups and down box. He put fizzy drink in a cup and he put it in the ups and down box, then he turned it upside down and the right way, then he opened it. It wasn't split, so he took the drink out and drank it. We were all happy so we clapped because it was a good trick.

After the drink trick, we watched Elgrego talk with Seemore, the baby green dinosaur. Seemore was sad because people at school were picking on him because he was green, then Elgrego talked to him about using his wits, then he sang The Rainbow Song from The Muppets, then he went back into his egg.

Finally, Elgrego performed the brick trick. He had a blanket in his hand. He lifted the blanket and went through the brick wall and said, "Errrrrr!" and "Aahh! Arrrr!" because he was stuck then he put the blanket down and he was in front of the brick wall. I was amazed because he was in front of the wall.

Aunty in Hospital

Last night, my sisters and I went to the hospital to give my aunty a gift. We went to the hospital because my aunty had a broken arm and leg, so we had to give her a gift so she could get better soon,  but she was asleep, so we had to quietly put the gift on her bed. Her bed had a blue blanket and, under her head, there was a white pillow. She was in a room by herself .She had five flowers on her shelf.  Five seconds later, she woke up because I was talking, then she opened her eyes and got up. Mum stopped and had a talk with her for ten minutes, then she opened up her gift. She loved it so much. Her gift was a teddy and chocolate. She gave us four pieces of chocolate. It was yuck. My sisters loved it but I didn't. My Aunty Lisa loved the card more than her teddy and her chocolate too. The doctor said, "She needs a rest," but my aunty said, "I'm not tired," but doctor said, "I'm sorry but you have to go,"  so we went home with our dinner.

A Fishy Tale

One day, my Dad and I went fishing in Auckland.
Before we started fishing, we went to KFC and it was yum, then we started to fish.
I caught five fish that were too little so I had to put them back in the water.  Dad caught nothing except shoes all the time!! Poor Dad!

Holy Week

On  Palm Sunday, Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey. All the people were waving palms in the air. Everyone was very happy to see Jesus.
On Holy Thursday, it was the Last Supper. Jesus and his friends ate the bread and drank the wine.
On Good Friday Jesus died on the cross.
