Pictures in the Mind

I have been practising writing words that give readers pictures in their minds.
A few weeks ago, it was Athletics Day. There were  all sorts of events like high jump, shot put and lots more to compete in.
First, we did Vortex.  All the 9 year old girls and boys ran as fast as we could to get to Vortex. The boys went first. The vortex was shaped like a rugby ball. The part at the end of the vortex was like an arrow. When I threw the vortex, it sounded like a little boy whistling down the park.
The boys lined up in order. It looked like a line of dogs waiting for food. My friends and I were excited to help Mr Keogh count how far the boys went. The furtherest throw was Moses.
After all the boys had had their turn, it was the girls' turn. The girls had a very short line. The girls threw way better than all the boys watching us.
After we had finished, Mr Keogh told us the 9 year olds who came 1st. Moses came first and I came first.
