Today, we walked to the riverbank to watch the Regatta waka races.
When we got to the riverbank, we sat down to watch the races. The water was sparkling and the crowd on the other side of the river was shading under tent tops. Some crews were getting into the waka to go up-river for their races.
Harrigan’s crew was racing next. We were all excited to see his crew win. The crew raced right passed my eyes. Everyone cheered, “ Let’s Go Saint Paul’s. Let’s Go. Clap. Clap.” My friends and I had sore throats from cheering our hardest for them. As they went past,’ the water made little sparkly waves. As their school waka paddled to the finish line with cheerful faces, my school was proud to see the crew make it to the finish line. Madeline and I screamed, “ WE WON! WE WON! WOO! We all loved watching the waka.
